We see ourselves as we are. But God sees us not as we are, but as He called us to be. He gives you an identity not based on your past, but based on your future, what you are to become. The secret is to receive that identity and believe it before you see it. Live it as if it is. So your name is no longer Rejected, but Beloved; no longer Weak, but Mighty; no longer Defeated, but Victorious. He has given you a name of that which is not. Receive it and it will be. — Jonathan Cahn
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Karen's previous career paths were in the hotel and hospitality industry and the non-profit association management field. She was the founder of a successful professional association management and small business consulting firm in Richmond, Professional Edge. A new career path unfolded in corporate and personal coaching offering support and help for others in finding ways to create strategies to balance the many demands of life critical for maintaining physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. From there, Karen returned to school to complete her MBA and Master's in Professional Counseling. She is the founder and president of Vantage Point Counseling & Health and Wellness Coaching, a division of the Vantage Point Group, LLC.
In particular, Karen has a heart for working with individuals experiencing life transitions and desiring change coupled with new beginnings. Her mission is to help others discover life purpose, passion, and potential all of which lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. In traditional, clinical psychology and psychotherapy, the goal is to heal the personality through affects, cognitions, behaviors, perceptions, and physical illness. In spiritual psychology and soul care, all of those items can be addressed, but there is a bigger picture and focus upon recognizing the force of the soul that partners in defining and configuring the experiences of the personality. A particular blessing is to work with military veterans and first responders to minimize and manage the stressors of moral injury and soul wounds.
Karen and her husband live on an old family homestead in central Virginia and enjoy working toward self-sustainability through gardening, farming, and the use of natural resources. In addition, they are co-directors of Kitchen Table Ministries, a community teaching ministry.
